As well as the regular maintenance our gardeners carry out (ie, weeding, mowing, pruning), these Case Studies are the results of additional projects completed

This client called in Garden Wonders for some help with her garden. It was on a new housing development and the builders had left a small strip of turf which would hardly have been worth getting the mower out for! They had also planted Cotoneasters which have inconspicuous flowers and more suited to supermarket car parks than to greet visitors at the front door.

Debra assessed the garden and gave design ideas to the client which were then carried out by a Garden Wonders gardener. Debra suggested that as the garden was very small, keeping with this theme would work using miniature hedging with the gaps between filled with seasonal plants.

In winter, the structure of the dwarf Box hedging will give interest and will look fantastic if covered in snow. In spring, miniature tete a tete daffodils will give a cheerful blast of yellow. In summer, the gaps between the hedging could be filled annuals which can be changed each year – pink scented petunias mixed with dusty blue Ageratum or perhaps lemon yellow chrysanthemums mixed with red Mimulus for a hot summery feel.

Against the house wall, a small white climbing rose and compact Clematis have been planted. When in bloom, the white roses will blend perfectly with the white front door.

Visiting the garden a few months later, we couldn’t help but notice how many similar gardens had appeared on the development … !
